Stephen’s CV

“Stephen Hill doesn’t disappoint, deploying jokes with confidence and eventually getting so caught up in his narrative he’s literally screaming into the mic, the audience howling along with him”Three Weeks

Stephen first got into stand up when he auditioned for Jimmy Carr’s Comedy Idol in 2006. Despite only doing it for a dare and being hung-over from a wedding reception the night before, he convinced the judges that he was worthy of a place in the competition’s final ten and performed his first ever stand up show at the legendary Comedy Store, London.

Since then he has been performing around the capital sharing the stage with the likes of Richard Herring, Russell Howard, Lee Mack, Andrew Maxwell, Reginald D. Hunter and Jeff Green.

Stephen worked with Jimmy Carr again in his comedy sketch show, for the extras of Carr’s “Comedian” DVD and was asked to contribute to Channel 4 Radio’s “4 Weekly News Show” alongside Frankie Boyle, Mark Dolan, Greg Davies, Katy Brand and Tony Law. Recently, Stephen’s sit-com “Gino Ginelli Is Dead” starring stand up’s Mike Garnell and Richard Rycroft, was produced by The Wireless Theatre Company (www.wirelesstheatrecompany.co.uk) and is currently available for download.

Stephen took his first Edinburgh comedy show “Adolf Hitler and Mother Teresa walk into a bar…” to the Fringe in 2008 where it received rave reviews. Due to the success of this first show, he took two shows the following year in 2009. “99 Problems But Your Mum Aint One” and “Creme Eggs vs Nazi Nana” both sold out and were also very well reviewed.

for several years Stephen managed and promoted his own monthly comedy club, “The Curse of The Old Crown” in central London the first Sunday of every month. Andrew O’Neill, Luke Toulson and Andi Osho are but a few that have played there. He also runs his own Best Man Speech Coaching business pimpmyspeech.com offering reasonable rates to help you write, and deliver your wedding speech with the confidence and humour of a pro. Since the end of 2011 Stephen has been presenter of the official Metal Hammer Podcast reviewing music and generally dicking around to over 100,000 weekly listeners.

Stephen’s first solo hour show “Lifestyles of the Shit and Worthless” at The Leicester Square Theatre, London in May 2011 was a sell out success and Stephen subsequently went on to perform a week of shows at the Sonisphere festival, as well as Bloodstock in August.

2012 has started well for Stephen, performing “Lifestyles of the Shit and Worthless” again at the Brighton Fringe Festival and in London at The Leicester Square Theatre, as well as writing and performing in “Open Spots” at The Pleasance Theatre and “Gino Ginelli’s Still Dead” starring Lionel Blair.

“The best moments in Hill’s show come when he allows his clear dismay and disappointment with many aspects of life out in the form of short, sharp bursts of satirical rage, literally shouting and fuming down the mic. Here, his wit was sharp, his energy engrossing, and the laughs came hard. An exciting talent” - Broadway Baby

“Edgy, punchy, raunchy and above all very, very funny. His withering invective takes no prisoners.” - Edfringe.com

“An angry young man” - Jimmy Carr

“Hill ripped into the audience with the intensity of a super-charged, loud-hailing juggernaut, eyes popping and the mic screeching and explosive. Very Entertaining”Three Weeks
